God saved me in 1989 when I was 26 years old and called me to the gospel ministry 10 years later while I was still enlisted in the Army. This was where I discovered God does, in fact, have a grand sense of humor. I married Tina Cheek, the best of all women, in 1996 and she has shared this journey with me through all its ups, downs, trials, and tribulations over the last 23 years and she did it on purpose…the Lord knows why. We are co-creators of two wonderful children and have as an additional joy one rambunctious grandson. I was licensed to Gospel ministry (1999) at Pine Mountain Valley First Baptist Church just outside of Hamilton, Georgia. I earned a Master Of Divinity (MDiv 2004) at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (don’t hold it against me) in Fort Worth, Texas and was ordained (2005) in my first pastorate at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Riverton, Wyoming. Most of my time in ministry has been spent as a US Army Chaplain seeing to the spiritual needs of our soldiers and their families both at home and abroad. I have functioned pastorally in Georgia, Texas, Wyoming, North Carolina, Afghanistan (twice), Washington State, Iraq (once) and other austere locations including Central Texas. My family and I came to Crestview in 2013 after my last deployment and shortly thereafter started serving in whatever capacity was needed. Once we (it truly was a joint effort) retired from the Army in 2015 I began working as an Adult Probation Officer in Coryell Co., Texas as we continued to serve at Crestview. Eventually I was called as one of Crestview’s co-elders with whom I now serve. For fun I annoy my wife and children, read, pester the laity, do some martial arts, lift a few weights, hunt a few animals, catch a few fish, and do just about anything else kinetic. My heart’s greatest desire is to see people brought to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and grow in the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. Thus, it is to that end all of my life is aimed.
